Paulo Gazzaniga – Player Profile
Paulo Gazzaniga joined the club from Southampton in 2017 and is the third-string Keeper behind Lloris and Vorm.
The young Argentine played as a junior as part of Valencia’s academy in 2007. Paulo then made the move to Britain, signing for Gillingham in 2011 and for Southampton in 2012 – where he stayed for 5 seasons and played under Pochettino’s management.
After 23 appearances in all competitions for Southampton, Paulo enjoyed a loan spell at Rayo Vallecano in Spain. Gazzaniga debuted for Spurs in November 2017, playing against Crystal Palace in the Premier League when Lloris and Vorm had picked up injuries and maintained a clean sheet.
Gazzaniga’s next league start for Spurs came almost a year later, again after injuries to Lloris and Vorm. His performance against Brighton in September 2018 earned many plaudits even though he did not keep a clean sheet in the 2-1 win.
The Argentine went on to make his first Champions League appearance for Spurs against PSV Eindhoven and was called up for the Argentinian National Team for the first time in November 2018, making his debut in a friendly versus Mexico.
