Richarlison, a forward who can play as a striker or as a winger, signed for Tottenham from Everton for £50M in July 2022. He is a physical player standing at 6ft 3in, but he is also a very technical player with an eye for goal. The Brazilian will cause trouble for every defence he faces for Spurs.
Richarlison began his career in his native Brazil, starting his professional career with second division side America Mineiro in 2015. He scored on his debut in a 3-1 win against Mogi Mirim. In total, he contributed 9 goals and 4 assists in his 24 appearances, helping his team to promotion.
The forward made the move to top flight side Fluminense in January 2016. He scored a hat-trick on debut in a 3-3 domestic cup draw against Ferroviaria. Fluminense won the 2017 league title, and Richarlison made a crucial contribution over the course of that season where he scored 8 in 12 matches whilst going on to have the honour of being included in the team of the season. Overall, in his 46 appearances for Fluminense between August 2016 and August 2017 he scored 11 goals whilst providing 7 assists.
The Brazilian made the move to Premier League Watford in August 2017 for a reported £11.2M. Following his debut against giants Liverpool, he scored his first goal for the club against Bournemouth. Watford ended that season having had two managers, Marco Silva and Javi Gracia. Despite the change at the club, the hornets survived comfortably finishing in 14th place on 41 points. Richarlison came away from his first season in English football with 5 goals and 4 assists.
Marco Silva became his manager once more when he made the move to Everton in July 2018 for a reported fee of £40m.
His first ever senior call up to the Brazil national team swiftly followed in September 2018, making his debut against the United States.
The forward had a very successful debut season for Everton Football Club, scoring 13 goals in his 35 Premier League appearances. The 2018/19 season was also very successful for the club, finishing 8th on 54 points.
In his final season on Merseyside (2021/22), the Richarlison scored 10 goals whilst providing 5 assists in his 30 Premier League appearances. The club finished 16th with 39 points – only 4 ahead of the relegation zone. Overall, Richarlison made 152 appearances for Everton, in which he scored 53 goals and provided 14 assists.
He went to his first major competition with Brazil in the 2019 Copa America. Brazil won the competition with Richarlison contributing a crucial goal in the 2-1 win over Peru in the final.
Spurs Head Coach Antonio Conte signed Richarlison for the club in July 2022 for a reported fee of £60M from Everton.
To date, the Brazil international has scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists in his 13 appearances across all competitions.
