Arnaut Danjuma – Player Profile
Arnaut Danjuma is a dynamic Dutch forward, who plays primarily as a left winger, but is also adept at playing right wing and centre forward positions. He joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Spanish club Villarreal on 25th January 2023.
The Netherlands international began his career in the TOP Oss academy in 2008 before being signed by PSV Eindhoven the same year. It was with PSV’s B team that Danjuma made his professional debut when he came on as a 65th minute substitute in a 3-0 defeat against NAC Breda on 7th December 2015.
He left the club in 2016 to join NEC Nijmegen, going on to make his Eredivisie (Dutch Top Flight) debut on Saturday 10th September 2016 in a 4-0 league defeat against his old club, PSV.
In his first season with the club (2016/17), he made 25 appearances, both for the senior and reserve team, scoring 9 goals. NEC finished 16th, but were relegated after losing in the relegation play-offs to Sparta Rotterdam.
In the following season (2017/18), Arnaut Danjuma became a regular starter for the club, making 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 17 assists.
Overall, he made 46 appearances for NEC Nijmegen, scoring 14 goals and providing 17 assists for his teammates.
Danjuma then left the club for Belgian giants Club Brugge in July 2018 for a reported fee of €2.8m (£2.4m). His debut came against Standard Liege in the Belgian Super Cup where he and his team were 2-1 winners. His first goal for the club followed on 3rd October 2018 in a 3-1 Champions League Group Stage defeat against Spanish Giants Atletico Madrid.
In his single season with the club (2018/19), he made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring 6 goals whilst also providing 4 assists. By the end of the season, Brugge finished in 2nd place, qualifying for European Football.
On 1st August 2019, Arnaut Danjuma signed for Premier League club AFC Bournemouth for a reported fee of £13.7m. He made 14 appearances in his first season (2019/20) when the club were relegated in 18th position.
Bournemouth were successfully promoted and instantly returned to the Premier League the following season (2020/21). The Dutch forward was a key figure for the Cherries that season, scoring 17 goals and providing 8 assists in all competitions.
After scoring 17 goals in 52 appearances for Bournemouth, he moved to Spanish Club Villarreal in 2021 for a reported fee of up to £21.3m.
In his first season at the Yellow Submarine (2021/22), he made 34 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing 4 assists. It was a 7th place finish that season, qualifying for European Football.
Overall, he has made 51 appearances in all competitions, scoring 22 goals whilst also providing 4 assists for his teammates.
He joined Antonio Conte’s Spurs on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season on 25th January 2023, scoring on his debut in an FA Cup 4th Round victory over Preston North End.
