Moussa Sissoko is a ‘box-to-box’ midfielder who can play either in a defensive or attacking midfielder role. Sissoko came to Spurs from Newcastle on the 31st August 2016.
The French international started off with Toulouse, spending four years in their youth academy before making his professional debut for the club in the 2007-08 campaign. During his time there, Sissoko enjoyed a total of 219 appearances and scored 23 goals in all competitions.
Following a promising start in France, Moussa Sissoko was picked up by Newcastle United in the January of 2013. Sissoko was able to score two goals on his opening debut at St. James’s Park in a blinding 3-2 comeback win against Chelsea. Moussa totalled 133 appearances for the Magpies and found the net 12 times.
Sissoko appeared for Spurs 34 times in all competitions during the 2016-17 campaign. The current campaign has seen Sissoko with a more regular starting role for Tottenham Hotspur due to a growing injury list in the midfield. Sissoko netted for the first time in a Spurs shirt on the 30th September against Huddersfield Town.
Internationally, Moussa has been a consistent figure in the youth French side, having represented them at all levels between U16 and U21. Since his senior debut in 2009, Sissoko has accumulated over 50 caps and was part of the 2016 squad that reached the Euros final.
