Spurs’ Transfer Window so far

Archie Gray signs for Spurs

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have been active so far in the 2024 Summer Transfer Window, and here we take a look at who they have signed so far.

The 2024 Summer Transfer Window has been busy across the world of football, with many clubs having already signed several players to not only strengthen their respective squads, but to also give themselves a stronger chance of realising their ambitions for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

As of the time of writing, Tottenham has signed a total of three players so far for a combined fee in the region of €51.25 million (£43.07 million). German striker Timo Werner has re-joined the club from RB Leipzig on loan with an option to buy, whilst Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray signed for the Lilywhites from Djurgardens and Leeds United respectively.

We will have a more in-depth look at each of the players to have arrived at Spurs so far this summer, and we will start with Timo Werner.

Werner has extensive experience in the Premier League, and the Germany international knows Tottenham well following his successful loan spell at the North London club in the 2023/24 season. During his temporary spell with the club last term, Werner scored 2 goals and got 3 assists in 14 appearances in all competitions.

He did have a previous spell in England with Chelsea, where he was part of the squad that won the highly coveted UEFA Champions League title back in 2021 – beating Manchester City in the Final. Werner is most famous for his hugely prolific time with RB Leipzig, for whom he has scored 113 goals and got a total of 47 assists in 213 appearances for the club since joining back in 2016.

For the Germany National Team, Timo Werner has scored no less than 24 goals in his 57 senior caps to date for his country.

Moving on to Archie Gray, the 18 year old is Spurs’ joined from EFL Championship outfit Leeds United for a reported fee of £30 million in early July. Last year was Gray’s breakout season, making 52 appearances in all competitions for his boyhood club, which included 47 appearances in the Second Tier. He got 2 assists, and his efforts helped Leeds to reach the Play-Off Final where they were beaten by Southampton.

Archie Gray, grandson of Leeds United legends Eddie Gray and Frank Gray, signed for the club’s academy at under 9s level back in 2014, and it was on 6th August 2023 that he made his senior debut in a game in the EFL Championship against Cardiff City at Elland Road. It was a game that ended in a 2 – 2 draw.

Gray is also very versatile, as he can play both as a central midfielder and as a right back, having played in both roles for former club Leeds United. Gray also has 2 Caps for the England Under 21s, where he has already scored a goal.

Finally, we move onto 18 year old Swedish international midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who left Djurgardens for Spurs for a reported fee in the region of £8.5 million. Before coming to North London, he had spent part of the 2024 Allsvenskan (Swedish Top Flight) season at his former club, making 12 appearances, scoring 3 goals, and getting 1 assist.

Also in the 2023/24 Svenska Cupen (Swedish FA Cup), Bergvall made 6 appearances, scoring 3 goals, whilst also getting a total of 4 assists. Bergvall and Djurgardens were defeated 5 – 2 on penalties by Malmo in the Final on 1st May 2024.

This is the 2024 summer transfer business that has been completed by Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur so far.

Spurs fans are excited for any further potential additions to their squad, as Spurs look to seal a return to the highly prestigious UEFA Champions League come the end of the 2024/25 season.
