Premier League: Liverpool vs. Spurs Match Preview

We are heading for the conclusion of the 2024/25 Premier League season, with the current campaign set to end in a matter of weeks. Their next game sees them take on Champions elect Liverpool, led by their Dutch Head Coach Arne Slot at Anfield this weekend.

This game between Tottenham Hotspur and the Reds will be played on the afternoon of Sunday 27th April 2025, with the contest getting underway at 16:30 on that day. It promises to be an enthralling match, and with plenty at stake for the two clubs – particularly the hosts.

Another big victory came against the Cityzens’ cross-city rivals Manchester United, who were beaten 1 – 0 by a crucial winning goal by James Maddison in the early stages of that contest (13’) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back on Sunday 16th February 2025.

In terms of their recent competitive meetings with Liverpool, Tottenham were defeated the last time they faced each other at Anfield in what was the second leg of the 2023/24 Carabao Cup Semi Final.

This defeat followed what is Tottenham’s most recent competitive triumph against Liverpool in the first leg of the aforementioned 2025 Carabao Cup Semi-Final, this time in North London. It was a 1 – 0 victory for Tottenham in front of what was a 59,037-strong crowd. Victory for Tottenham in this game was sealed thanks to a winning goal from their 19 year old Swedish central midfielder Lucas Bergvall in the latter stages of the second half on that night (86’).

As for Tottenham’s most recent victory in the Premier League against Liverpool, this took place back on Saturday 30th September 2023, with the game having been played at the world famous Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was a tight and tense 2 – 1 victory for Spurs, who scored through Son Heung-Min (36’), and through an own goal from now-former Liverpool central defender Joel Matip, who scored an own goal to win the game for Tottenham deep into second half stoppage time (90+6’).

Victory would be crucial for Spurs as they not only look to climb the Premier League table in what they desire to be a positive last few weeks of the 2024/25 season, they are also looking to create momentum ahead of their high profile UEFA Europa League Semi Final, where they are going to be facing Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt over two legs.

The first leg will be taking place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the heart of North London in what is going to be an 8pm kick-off on the evening of Thursday 1st May 2025. The second leg then takes place a week later in Norway at Bodo/Glimt’s Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday 8th May 2025, with the game kicking off at 8pm UK Time.
