Spurs Players at the 2018 World Cup
Much has been made of the English Spurs players heading to the World Cup, with us being as guilty as anyone, and what that means for Gareth Southgate’s England squad. With that in mind, and with teams heading to Russia as you read this, here are some of the other Spurs stars who will be representing their home teams this World Cup.
Toby Alderweireld
With almost a decade of international play to his name and over 70 caps for Belgium, as well as playing for Belgium’s various youth teams since 2004, the Dutch defender is a mighty presence in the Belgian international team. After beating Egypt 3-0 earlier this month, and going into the competition as a firm favourite to take home the trophy, the English Spurs players will have lot on their plates come their group stage game on the 28th June.

Mousa Dembélé
Although leaked pictures of named mattresses prior to the Red Devils’ squad announcement fuelled speculation about who would be on the plane to Russia, Mousa Dembélé’s place was never really in doubt. The versatile midfielder has over 75 caps for Belgium, and will be looking to return from a season plagued with injury woes with a solid performance at the World Cup.
Jan Vertonghen
Yet another Belgian Spurs player to cause a headache for the British contingent in Gareth Southgate’s squad, Jan Vertonghen will also flying to Russia. The 6’2″ defender is one of the most experienced players in the squad, with over a decade playing for the Belgian team. Recently, on the 11th anniversary of his debut, he earned his hundredth cap, the first Belgian to do so.
Huge congratulations to my brother @JanVertonghen on his 💯 appearance for @BelRedDevils 🇧🇪 #RedTogether pic.twitter.com/n7vtiaLBoO

Spurs Players at the 2018 World Cup
Heung-Min Son
Since joining Spurs in 2015, the South Korean striker was been making a serious name for himself, with just under a hundred appearances to his name, as well as finishing in the top-10 goal scorers in the Premier League last season. An explosively energetic and versatile player, Kane and Co. will have to work hard if England and South Korea face off in the tournament.
Davinson Sanchez
One of the younger players on this list, the Colombian defender has only been at Tottenham for just under a year, and made his ninth appearance for Colombia on the 1st June with a goalless draw against Egypt. Although he may lack experience, this is his first World Cup, and he’ll be hungry to make an impression on the world stage.
Fue un gran año! 🙌🏾 Muchas gracias a todos los seguidores por su apoyo! 🔜🇨🇴⚽️

Christian Eriksen
In contrast to Sanchez, Christian Eriksen will be treading well worn ground when he heads to Russia; this is his third World Cup representing Denmark. He has been a fan favourite this season, netting the record for the most goals scored by a Dane in the Premier League, as well as a number of high scoring appearances against West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester United, where he scored the third fastest goal ever seen in the Premier League. He’ll certainly be one to watch throughout the tournament.
Christian Eriksen has 16 goals for Denmark in his last 20 games.
He's averaging a goal every 109 minutes for his country since 2016.
He's a midfielder.

Although we may be supporting England going into the tournament, with Spurs being represented by so much talent all across the world, I’m sure we won’t stay so biased for too long.
