Match Report: Spurs vs APOEL
With a comfortable 3-0 victory over APOEL at Wembley stadium, goals from Llorente, Son, and N’Koudou meant that Tottenham proceed through the competition undefeated in the group stage. Spurs dominated the game from the outset. Their first real opportunity came in the 8th minute when a free kick from Harry Winks caused mayhem in the area. Llorente’s header from the cross was blocked and parried into the feet of Rose, who struck the post. Llorente returned the ball into the area only for it to be headed wide.
Tottenham scored in the 19th minute after Aurier cut a lovely low cross into the feet of Llorente. The Spaniard had time to turn in the box and beat the keeper from point-blank range. Son scored the second goal after a lovely ‘one-two’ with Llorente to set himself up on the edge of the area. Just as we’ve seen so many times from this dynamic winger, Son curled the ball out of the keeper’s reach with finesse. Son could have bagged a second with two minutes remaining in the second half, but his long-range shot was comfortably saved by Perez.
Tottenham were at ease in the second half and neither threatened nor felt threatened for large chunks of the period. Spurs added a third when N’Koudou’s deflected shot beat Perez near post. The game finished 3-0 Spurs.
