What does the Tottenham Hotspur motto mean?
In Latin, the Tottenham Hotspur motto is Audere est Facere and in English, this translates to,
‘To Dare is to Do’
The club motto appeared on the Spurs crest between 1956 and 2005. It was removed however during the 2006 rebrand of the club image. The words were similarly showcased on various billboards at White Hart Lane on the West Stand. The decision to remove the motto from the badge was simply down to wanting to modernise the emblem. Latin and modernity don’t usually co-align. This was a decision of Daniel Levy and was made two years into his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur F.C. The club nontheless endorse the motto as their own.
