Alfie Whiteman is one of three permanent youth goalkeepers currently in the Tottenham Hotspur development squad.
Alfie joined the Spurs Academy in July 2015, he made his debut for the U18 squad against Brighton during the 2014-15 season. He has really progressed since he has joined the club and started 14 times for the Under-18s in all competitions during the 2015-16 campaign.
After progressing through the ranks and making appearances in both the league and in cup runs for the U18, U19, and U23 levels, the coaching staff at Tottenham Hotspur rewarded Alfie for his efforts with a run in the senior squad. Whiteman was on the bench of the Senior Spurs squad for the League Cup clash against Gillingham in September 2016 and has travelled with the first team on tour to the United States. In November, young Alfie Whiteman was part of the squad for a senior Premier League game against Crystal Palace.
Whiteman was again involved in the first team squad during the beginning of the 2018/19 season. Injuries to Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm meant that he was on the bench for a number of Premier League and Carabao Cup matches but, as of December 2018, he has still yet to make his first team debut for Spurs.
Alfie Whiteman’s talents have not only been recognised by club, but also by country. Whiteman has been capped for England for the U16, U17, U18 and U19 squads. Similarly, he started in goal for the U17 England squad during the World Cup for that age level.
