The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set to stage a Premier League match between Spurs and Newcastle United go head in the 2023/24 season. New Head Coach Ange Postecoglou will have ambitions of leading his side to a return to European football after narrowly missing out last term. As for Eddie Howe’s Magpies, they will be hoping to finish in the top four for the second successive season.

Spurs’ first victory against their North East counterparts occurred on 23rd November 1912 at White Hart Lane. The home side secured a 1-0 league win on the day. Between 27th December 1920 and 12th November 1921, the Lilywhites won all three matches against Newcastle by an aggregate score of 8-0.

Fast forward to 3rd April 2022, which saw Tottenham’s latest victory against the Magpies, beating them 5-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Ben Davies (43’), Matt Doherty (48’), Son Heung-Min (54’), Emerson Royal (63’) and Steven Bergwijn (83’) all scored for the home side that day.

Unfortunately for Spurs, they lost 6-1 in their most recent match against Newcastle on 23rd April 2023 at St. James’s Park.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle have met 168 times since they first met on 18th February 1905. THFC have a superior record over the years, with 73 wins compared to the Magpies’ 61. There have been 34 draws between these two clubs to date.

The two teams will meet again at St. James’s Park on 13th April 2024, where Spurs will be hoping to have the opportunity to secure a domestic double against Eddie Howe’s side.
