Spurs v Chelsea 2023/24

A renewal of one of English football’s most intense rivalries will occur when Tottenham and Chelsea meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 2023/24 Premier League season. Spurs, led by Head Coach Ange Postecoglou, will set their sights on a European return, as will Chelsea, who appointed ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino in May 2023.

The Argentine spent five years in charge of Spurs (2014 – 2019), and in that time, he guided the club to a second-place finish and two third-place finishes in the Premier League. His time at the club is perhaps most famous for guiding the Lilywhites to a Champions League Final in 2019, where they lost to Liverpool.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is currently the top scorer in this fixture, with 12 goals during his time with Chelsea.

THFC’s first competitive victory against the Blues came in an FA Cup 2nd Round tie at Stamford Bridge on 5th February 1910, where the visitors won 1-0. Spurs also won their next two encounters with their London rivals, winning 2-1 (April 1910, League) & 1-0 (December 1912, League).

Tottenham won their most recent match against Chelsea, beating the Blues 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on 26th February 2023. Oliver Skipp gave the home side the lead at the start of the second half with a spectacular finish (46’) before Harry Kane ensured the victory late in the match (82’).

Chelsea edged Spurs with 77 wins from their 156 meetings, compared to the Lilywhites’ 56. There have been 42 draws between these two clubs as of the time of writing.

The return fixture will see THFC make the short trip across London to Stamford Bridge, where they will face Chelsea again on 24th February 2024.
