The Telegraph have reported that Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have shown interest in hosting the 2020 European Champions Cup Final at the stunning Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.
The constriction of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is in full swing with approximately 2,500 people working hard to finish the project on time. There has been internet whispers decreeing that Spurs are going to apply to play their first few games of the 2018/19 season away from home, just like Liverpool did a few years ago.

Unfortunately for Tottenham Hotspur, next year’s final of the Rugby European Champions Cup is set to be played in Newcastle, and it is unlikely that the tournament organisers are going to want to hold the tournament in the same country two years in a row. It is far more likely that the location of the final will be rotated among the participating countries.
It is understood that the Stade Velodrome in Marseille is most likely to be selected as the venue to host the final. However, the fact that Tottenham Hotspur have registered their interest for this rugby fixture just shows how invested they are in the idea of cementing the new stadium as a London landmark for premier sports.
Even if Spurs new stadium is not opened in time for the first round of Premier League fixtures in August, the club has committed to hosting the NFL clash between the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks on the 14th October. This fixture is the first of a ten-year partnership with the NFL, again proving that Daniel Levy’s ambitions for the Stadium are focused on hosting world-class sports for years to come.
The Spurs bid to host the final should not be ruled out so lightly. The tournament organisers will be looking to host the final in a city that is easily accessible and relatively cost-effective regarding travel to and from the stadium. Although Bilbao has been described as a stunning venue for this year’s final, the ‘exorbitant’ prices to get to the stadium have been a cause for concern.
