Spurs International Round-Up – Dier Captains England
Here’s our update of the Spurs players who were in International action yesterday.
Eric Dier captained England and Danny Rose put in a man of the match performance in a 1-0 win over Switzerland at the King Power stadium in Leicester. After an uninspiring first half, in which Switzerland were the better side, England put in an improved performance in the second half and Marcus Rashford scored the winner.
Harry Kane and Kieran Trippier were both rested for the game but made appearances off the bench in the second half for England as Gareth Southgate’s side got back to winning ways after chalking up 3 straight losses in all competitions.

Staying with England, Kyle Walker-Peters played the entire game at left back and Josh Onomah came on as a 89th minute substitute as England under 21s beat Latvia 2-1 in their EURO 2019 qualifier in Jelgava.
After going 1-0 down, goals from Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount ensured England’s lead was extended in their qualification group. They need just one point from two games to qualify for EURO 2019 which is being held in Italy and San Marino next year.
Elsewhere Davinson Sanchez played the entire game as Colombia battled to a 0-0 draw over Argentina at the MetLife stadium in New Jersey.
Cameron Carter-Vickers was also part of a defence that kept a clean sheet as a young United States team beat rivals Mexico 1-0 in Nashville. 19 year old Tyler Adams scored the only goal of the game for the United States.

Alderweireld and Vertonghen Keep Clean Sheet for Belgium
Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen played the full 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet as Belgium breezed past Iceland 3-0. The Spurs duo played either side of Vincent Kompany in a three man defence and Mousa Dembele came on as a substitute in the 80th minute. Two goals from Romelu Lukaku and an Eden Hazard penalty condemned Iceland to their first loss at home in 13 competitive matches.
Finally, Heung-min Son played the full 90 minutes for South Korea in a friendly against Chile. With the amount of football he has played for his international side of late, it is likely that he will not start at the weekend against Liverpool.
