Several Spurs Players away on international duty
Spurs players represent their countries across the World
Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the Premier League top four, challenging for Champions League qualification come the end of the season. Only one point separates the Lilywhites from Manchester United, who occupy 3rd place in the Premier League table.
The international break arrives after three wins in the last five league matches for Spurs, including an impressive 2-0 victory coming against Chelsea. The most recent win came against newly promoted Nottingham Forest, who were beaten 3-1.
17 Tottenham players have been called up to play for their national team in the international break, which concludes with the Premier League season recommencing on Saturday 1st April.
England
Fraser Forster and Eric Dier join Spurs’ record goal scorer, Harry Kane, in being part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The Three Lions are in Group C with Ukraine, North Macedonia and Italy for a place in the next Euros tournament in 2024.
Italy, who beat them in the final at the previous Euros, will be their first opponents on 23rd March. This is followed by a match against Ukraine at Wembley.
Oliver Skipp and Djed Spence have been called up to the England U21s for friendly matches against France and Croatia.
Republic of Ireland
Troy Parrott, a young striker on loan at Championship club Preston North End, has earned a call up to the Republic Of Ireland squad.
It is a friendly match against Latvia to kick off the international break for Parrott on 22nd March at the Aviva Stadium. This is followed by a Euro 2024 qualifier against beaten World Cup finalists France on Monday 27th March.
The Republic of Ireland’s Euro Qualifying group (B) includes the Netherlands, France, Greece and Gibraltar.
Denmark
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been called up once again by Denmark for Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Their first Euro 2024 qualifier will be against Finland, before facing Kazakhstan away from home to finish the international break. Denmark are in a group (H) with Slovenia, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland, San Marino and Finland.
Argentina
Giovani Lo Celso and central defender Cristian Romero have been called up by Argentina. La Albiceleste are in a buoyant mood after they became three-time World Cup Champions in December 2022.
Argentina play two friendly matches against Panama and Curacao.
Sweden
Forward Dejan Kulusevski is set to play for Sweden’s national side. They play two Euro 2024 qualification matches against Belgium and Azerbaijan. They are in Group F alongside Belgium, Azerbaijan, Austria and Estonia.
Colombia
Davinson Sanchez has earned a call-up to Colombia for their two friendly matches against Japan and South Korea where he will come face to face with Tottenham teammate Heung-Min Son.
South Korea
Heung-Min Son is in the South Korea squad that is set to play two friendly matches in the international break. The first is against Davinson Sanchez and Colombia, whilst the final friendly will be against Uruguay.
Senegal
Pape Matar Sarr is part of the Senegal squad for two qualifying matches for the Africa Cup of Nations against Mozambique. They are in Group L alongside Rwanda, Benin and Mozambique.
Croatia
Ivan Perisic has been called up by Head Coach Zlatko Dalic, with Croatia facing Wales and Turkey in two Euro 2024 qualifiers. The other teams in their qualification group are Armenia and Latvia.
Spain
Bryan Gil and January signing Pedro Porro have both been called up by Spain. They are set to play two Euro 2024 qualifiers against Norway and Scotland. The other nations in their group (A) are Georgia and Cyprus.
Brazil
Right back Emerson Royal has earned a call-up for Brazil for their friendly match away from home against Morocco on 25th March.
Once the players on international duty return, there are a number of crucial Premier League matches to come. After an away match against Everton, Spurs will face high-flying Brighton at home, before another match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Bournemouth.
There will also be a high profile match against Manchester United at the end of April as Spurs look to remain in the hunt for Champions League football.
