Ange Postecoglou will make the trip to the City Ground to face Steve Cooper’s Reds in a quest to continue their pursuit of a spot in the Premier League’s top four.

Following two consecutive games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs are set to travel to the City Ground to take on a struggling Nottingham Forest led by Head Coach Steve Cooper. Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs come into this game off the back of an emphatic 4 – 1 Premier League win against a Newcastle United side led by Eddie Howe.

In their win against the Magpies, the Lilywhites found the back of the net through Destiny Udogie (26’), Richarlison (38’, 60’) and a penalty kick from Son Heung-Min (85’). This is one of the numerous impressive victories and performances that Tottenham have achieved so far in the 2023/24 season.

The first one of these results came in Spurs’ first game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term against Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United. The Red Devils were comfortably beaten 2 – 0 by their North London counterparts. Pape Matar Sarr (49’) and an own goal from Argentine central defender Lisandro Martinez (83’) secured all three points for the home team.

Then came that emphatic 5 – 2 win at Turf Moor against a Burnley side led by former Manchester City central defender Vincent Kompany. Son Heung-Min (16’, 63’, 66’), Cristian Romero (45+2’) and James Maddison (54’) all found the back of the Clarets’ net in what was an extraordinary day and performance from Postecoglou’s Lilywhites.

Following an entertaining 2 – 2 draw in the North London Derby against Arsenal, where Son scored both of Spurs’ goals, Postecoglou’s side secured a 2 – 1 comeback win against Liverpool. An own goal in second half stoppage time from Reds defender Joel Matip (90+6’) and a goal in the first half from Son (36’) secured what was a statement victory.

The next eye-catching result came against the reigning Premier League and European Champions, Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium in early December. It was a thrilling 3 – 3 draw on the day, with Son (6’), Giovani Lo Celso (69’) and Dejan Kulusevski (90’) all scoring for the away side to earn a point.

Finally, the most recent extraordinary result picked up by Spurs was indeed that aforementioned 4 – 1 victory against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Let’s move on to Spurs’ next Premier League game against Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The match kicks off at 8pm on Friday.

The most recent match that these two clubs met in was in the Premier League on 11th March 2023. On this occasion, Tottenham Hotspur were 3 – 1 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where they scored thanks to a Harry Kane brace (19’, 35’ – Penalty) and a goal from Heung-Min Son (62’).

Overall, Spurs and Nottingham Forest have played against each other on 123 occasions, including their inaugural league meeting, where they played out a competitive 2 – 2 draw. Percy Humphreys scored both of Tottenham’s goals.

The Lilywhites have a superior record of 57 wins compared to Forest’s 37. There have been 29 draws between them as of the time of writing.

Following this game against Nottingham Forest, Spurs will take on a resurgent Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, 23rd December 2023, in a 3pm kick-off. After a game away against Brighton a few days later, Tottenham’s next home game after facing the Seagulls will be against Bournemouth in a 2pm kick-off on Sunday, 31st December 2023.
