Burnley vs Spurs: Formations

This victory marked the end of five away games without a win for Spurs, so the Tottenham travellers would have been relieved to be ahead so early at Turf Moor. Dele Alli was extremely lucky not to receive a red card for a crunching tackle on Taylor; the home fans subjected him to a tirade of boos and taunts every time he touched the ball from thereon after.

Heung-Min Son was unlucky not to get a goal himself after he rocketed a shot over the crossbar from 10 yards out at the opening of the second period. Burnley seemed somewhat impotent in front of goal, and Kane doubled the deficit after a lightly-weighted through ball split the Burnley defence. Kane made it a cool three with 10 minutes to go by converting a set-up from Dele Alli. Harry Kane rightly deserved the man of the match accolade for this fixture; with a total of 18 Spurs shots and only 8 on target, the rest of the squad relied on Harry to do what he does best.

We are fighting for the top 4, that victory showed everyone we are there, we just need to be consistent in our performance. Harry Kane is amazing, a fantastic player, 53 goals in 2017 is remarkable”

Man of the Match

Harry Kane scored a hat-tick today and is now just one goal behind breaking Alan Shearer’s record of most goals in a calendar year. The man of the match, and the match ball, fully and rightfully belong to this phenomenal striker who keeps pushing the limits of his own potential.
