Alderweireld Contract

Spurs Players – Contract Expiry Dates

Here’s all you need to know about the contracts of Spurs players and when they expire.

Toby Alderweireld – 2019

Although it looked like he may be on his way out in the summer, Alderweireld is back in the fold at Spurs and showed why he is one of the best defenders in the country with his performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

There is an option to extend his current deal by one more year, however that would result in the defender being available for £25m because of a release fee. Consequently it is evident that the club sign the Belgian up to a new contract soon.

Jan Vertonghen – 2019

The first Belgian to reach 100 caps, Vertonghen’s contract is set to expire at the end of the year. However he also has an optional extension clause which he expects the club to activate.

“My contract is expiring at the end of the season, but Tottenham have an option to extend it with one year. I think they will take up the option. We’ll see what happens.” (Evening Standard)

Mousa Dembele – 2019

A firm favourite of Pochettino’s, Dembele is the third Belgian player at Spurs whose contract will be expiring next year. Both player and club are hopeful of sealing a new deal so it remains to be seen whether that will happen.

Fernando Llorente – 2019

Llorente was signed as backup to Harry Kane in 2017 and will more than likely leave on a free in the summer.

Michel Vorm – 2019

Vorm has been Pochettino’s back up goalkeeper ever since he joined in 2014 and deputised for Hugo Lloris in the defeat to Watford on the 2nd September. It’s likely that he will leave on a free next summer as third choice keeper Paulo Gazzaniga will remain at the club until 2022.

Erisken and Alli on course for new contract

Christian Eriksen – 2020

One of the top performers for Spurs in the last couple of years, the Danish play-maker has less than 2 years left on his current contract but will surely sign a new deal sometime this season.

Danny Rose – 2021

Another player whose future looked uncertain in the summer, Rose has worked his way back into the team and started in the 3-0 win over Manchester United in August.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 2021

Currently on loan at Swansea City, Carter-Vickers was in the Europa League matchday squad in 2016 against Monaco and has made appearances in the League Cup and FA Cup. His deal will run out in 2021.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 2021

Academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters was handed a new 3 year deal after making his first start against Newcastle at the beginning of last season and impressing many.

Eric Dier – 2021

Yet another example of a player that has come on leaps and bounds under Pochettino, Dier has established himself as a top holding midfielder for both club and country and is a key player for Spurs.

Hugo Lloris – 2022

The World Cup winning captain and Spurs skipper still has 4 more years left on his deal and along with Harry Kane is one of the highest earners at the club.

Kieran Trippier – 2022

Trippier is a typical example of what Mauricio Pochettino can do to a player. When he first joined he was back-up to Kyle Walker, now he is first-choice for club and country and one of the best fullbacks in the league. He was also recently nominated for the FIFPro World XI.

Dele Alli – 2022

It’s still easy to forget how young Dele Alli is after his meteoric rise from MK Dons to World Cup quarter finalist goalscorer and conqueror of Real Madrid. Like a few other players at the club, a new deal should be on the way for one of the best performers for Spurs.

Kane, Sanchez and Son here for the Long-Term

Harry Winks – 2023

Winks was handed the number 8 shirt at the start of the season and will only improve under Pochettino. A good run of form could see him emerge as the creative midfielder the England national team are crying out for.

Davinson Sanchez – 2024

Following an impressive debut season after his record move from Ajax, Sanchez was handed a new 6 year contract back in May which will keep him at the club for the prime of his playing career.

Heung-Min Son – 2024

Another player who has recently committed to the club, Son will look to kick on and establish himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Harry Kane – 2024

Kane is now the highest paid player at Spurs after signing a new contract this summer. It would not be a surprise if the England captain was still at the club in 10 years time.
