West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Preview

Isn’t football a funny old game? It is crazy how much can change in a week at Tottenham Hotspur. At the start of the week, Mauricio Pochettino would’ve been putting the final touches on his preparation for West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur. Despite the obvious frustrations from fans over Spurs’ current form, no one could have forecast what was about to happen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The news broke on Tuesday night that Mauricio Pochettino and his whole backroom team had been relieved of their duties at Spurs. Within hours, The Special One had returned to the Premier League. Jose Mourinho was named as the new Head Coach at THFC after a short spell out of management with his previous post being at Manchester United.

The reaction has been mixed and many fans have felt the way that Mauricio Pochettino was let go was a bit poor and that he deserved better treatment by the board after everything he had given the club but this is football. Poch’s time had come, with things behind the scenes looking stale. Poch came in a revitalised this club, from top to bottom. You only have to look at Spurs new stadium to see how far Spurs have come.

However, there is a new dawn at Tottenham Hotspur. Regardless of your opinion on Mourinho, you can’t argue that he hasn’t proven himself everywhere he’s been. There’s not much Mourinho hasn’t won and anything he hasn’t won probably isn’t worth winning. It’s time to get behind the charismatic Jose and he’s already winning the players over. What better way than to get a reaction than with a win over London rivals West Ham United?

Spurs’ last game in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came against the impressive Sheffield United and Spurs were lucky to come away with the point. Defensive frailties reared its head again. This will be something that will be addressed by Mourinho with him being famous for his defensive counter-attacking style.

West Ham United are in a poor run of form too. Having started the season looking promising, twinned with some big money signings, Manuel Pellegrini’s side haven’t won in their last five Premier League games and their last win came against Manchester United on September 22nd.

All eyes will be on the London Stadium for this one without a shadow of the doubt as we welcome the return of the enigmatic Jose Mourinho. West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur on 23rd November is a 12:30 pm kick-off and is live on BT Sport.

Team News

Jose Mourinho will be without Erik Lamela and Hugo Lloris for the visit to the London stadium and record signing Tanguy Ndombele and Jan Vertonghen will be assessed ahead of the game against West Ham after their recent injury concerns.
