Match Preview – West Brom vs Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur will play on the road for the last time this season on Saturday. Heading to the West Midlands to battle it out against the Baggies, Spurs’ performance could have two huge consequences in the league. The first, a win would see Spurs usurp Liverpool in third place. Additionally, if West Brom fail to win then they’re slight hopes for Premier League safety will be mathematically extinguished and they will be relegated to the Championship.

Liverpool have been preoccupied with their position in the Champions League and have recently dropped points in matches against the Baggies and Stoke. This week’s action means that they might even be tired in their bout against Chelsea – so Spurs should be looking to replace them in the table.

West Bromwich Albion have had a decent run of form lately, and are four games unbeaten under club legend Darren Moore. Both teams are entering the game on the back of a win and both have a lot to fight for.

Spurs drew with the Albion when they hosted them at Wembley back in November of last year. It was the Venezuelan forward Salomon Rondon that netted for the visitors within four minutes. Harry Kane levelled the score for the Lilywhites. You can refresh your memories of that game here

Injury and Team News

For the Albion, Nacer Chadli has a slim chance of returning to face his old club after battling fatigue. Gareth Barry and James Morrison however (who have suffered from knee and calf injuries respectively) will be ruled out and are unlikely to return for the rest of the season.

Mousa Dembele picked up a knocked against Watford and will undergo assessment prior to the game on Saturday. Danny Rose is nearing the end of his injury recovery but will most likely not appear. Tottenham Hotspur are hoping that Harry Winks may return before the season ends, following a successful recovery program abroad.

Form

West Bromwich Albion are bottom of the league as they have been for the majority of this season. They have 28 points, two points behind Stoke City in 19th and four points off Swansea in 17th. They need to win all of their remaining games and for Swansea not to win again this season.

Spurs are fourth with 71 points after their victory over Watford on Monday night. That victory gave the Lilywhites five points of breathing space between themselves and fifth place Chelsea. Spurs are now just one point behind Liverpool with a game and hand. Additionally, they are six points behind Man Utd in 2nd.

Spurs vs WBA Predicted Line Up

The game will kick off at 3pm on Saturday the 5th May. The game will not be televised in the UK.

West Brom vs Spurs: Our Prediction

If this fixture was set four weeks earlier it would no doubt have been a Spurs win without any doubts. However, the Baggies seem to have found a new lease of life and were unbeaten during the whole month of April. Spurs are back to winning ways after an impressive attacking display against the Hornets – Kane will clearly be hunting Salah down in the race for the coveted Golden Boot. However, it must be said, Spurs left holes in their defences against Watford. If it wasn’t for a stunning display from Hugo Lloris the score could have been quite different. The Baggies are fighting for survival and will look to pounce on any opportunity given to them.

Our prediction: WBA 2-2 Spurs
