Hugo Lloris - Hospitality tickets to see Spurs player at New Stadium

Lloris Misses Spurs Draw at Southampton

Two of Tottenham’s most valuable players, skipper Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen, were both forced to miss the clash against the Saints on Sunday as they had picked up ‘flu-like’ symptoms following the team’s trip to Barcelona for a training camp session.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino had further stated in a post-match interview that these infectious symptoms had not only been a worry for the two Spurs icons but similarly for other members of the squad ahead of the match. However, he was adamant that this was not the chief reason for Tottenham’s flat performance.

Pochettino, his players, and Spurs fans alike will be hoping for a quick conclusion of the bug that has manoeuvred its way through the Spurs squad as the coming month proves a significant interval in the season with Premier League fixtures against Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Spurs Need Their Leader Back

Tottenham currently sit 5th in the Premier League table with 45 points; just 2 points behind Liverpool in 4th and 8 points behind Manchester United in 2nd. It is vitally important that Hugo Lloris makes a swift return to the pitch and captains his team through this difficult month of fixtures. The performance given by Spurs at St. Mary’s Stadium must remain an anomaly if they wish to climb the table further and secure a champions league position.

Although Poch may be right by saying that the apparent illness is no excuse for the team’s uninspiring performance, surely the absence of their on-pitch commander, Hugo Lloris, only contributed to the deflated morale of the Spurs XI. Onwards and upwards as February looms large!
