Fernando Llorente Looks Likely to Leave Spurs
The undetermined length of Harry Kane’s absence would have surely been a precursor to Fernando Llorente’s transition into the starting XI as the next best striker. Fernando Llorente signed for Tottenham Hotspur back in the summer of 2017 and was contracted with the intention of alleviating some of the pressure on the Spurs frontman.

Prior to the Spaniard’s hat-trick against Rochdale a few weeks back, he has only found the net twice in the last 26 games. It must be remembered that the striker has just turned 33 years old, and has enjoyed a fruitful goal scoring career with Atletico Bilbao. In his career, Fernando Llorente has won the World Cup, the Euros, the Europa League, three Serie A titles and two Italian domestic cups.
Reports are suggesting, however, that Kane’s untimely and luckless demise will open the door to Lamela to make a return to the first team squad. Lamela has not had a full ninety minutes in the Premier League this season but is showing great promise following a recovery from a serious hip injury which ruled him out throughout the first half of the season. Lamela is a smart footballer with a capacity to create extraordinary plays in midfield; he has just been most unfortunate to suffer two serious injuries.

With Heung-Min Son in the form of his life, it seems that Lamela could play behind Son as the stand-in front man. Tottenham Hotspur are not the same without Harry Kane it has to be said, but they are far from a one-man team. With a combined force of Lamela, Son, Alli and Eriksen, the current Spurs squad could beat any team in the league.
Fernando Llorente Transfer may be imminent
Mauricio Pochettino’s reluctance to call upon Fernando Llorente, who was employed as Kane’s understudy, is not only a reflection Llorente’s poor form this season, but most probably foreshadows his departure in the upcoming transfer window. Spurs are a young team, and Pochettino is known for his inclinations to develop the Spurs youth players into top-squad players. If Llorente is heading for the door, Spurs could use the vacancy to develop the attributes of a younger, and hungrier, ancillary to Kane.
It is most certainly a shame that things didn’t quite go to plan for Fernando Llorente at Spurs. At the end of the day, he probably has more experience than any other player, and I’m quite sure that he lends his football wisdom off the pitch more than he does on it. But Pochettino is attempting to carve a new history for the current Tottenham Hotspur. The New Stadium will become the foundation for their growth as a global force to be reckoned with. Most Spurs fans would probably agree that a move for Llorente in the summer will probably benefit both the player and the club.
