This year’s Women’s FA Cup draw is a very important one for the Spurs Ladies for one significant reason: it is the first time they are entering the competition at this fourth-round stage. The Lilywhite ladies were play-off champions in the Premier League last year, securing them a spot – for the first time – in the FA Women’s Super League (WSL2).
On Sunday the 4th February, Spurs ladies take on WSL2 leaders, the Doncaster Belles, in what will be a tantalising 4th round FA Cup clash.
Spurs will be looking to advance to the 5th round for the first time in the team’s history, but that is no easy task, and will take a great performance from the Spurs ladies to overturn the Donny Belles. The Belles currently stand undefeated in the FA WSL2 whereas Tottenham will be playing on the back of a 4-3 loss to Sheffield last Sunday. This matched marked their 4th lost in a row. Sheffield have drawn Durham in the Cup, and will be looking to advance through to the 5th round of the tournament themselves. Nothing is impossible in this sport, and the Ladies have a great squad with a great morale. With dynamic strikers such as Wendy Martin and Sarah Wiltshire, Spurs will go into the FA Cup clash determined to turn their recent form around.
