2023/24 Premier League Season: Important Dates

Find out all you need to know about the 2023/24 season here

The 2022/23 Premier League season has been an enthralling one, there have been battles at both ends of the table, with the relegation battle going down to the final day of the season. Spurs, of course never had any worries of relegation and have been in the European Football conversation for the whole campaign.

Tottenham have spent some time in the top four as they looked for Champions League qualification, but should they secure European Football for next season, they will be competing in the Europa Conference League in 2023/24. This is a competition with some quality teams, and it is a trophy that the Lilywhites will feel that they can win.

There have been a number of particularly pleasing results over the course of the 2022/23 season, one of which being that 6-2 victory against Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in September 2022. Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Rodrigo Bentancur and a Heung-Min Son hat-trick sealed an emphatic victory for the Lilywhites.

Another particularly pleasing result from the season also came at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but this win took place a few months later in February 2023. Harry Kane scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory against reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City. City have since gone on to retain the title ahead of their challengers, Arsenal.

The 2022/23 season was a very significant one for Harry Kane, as he broke several long standing records. By scoring his goal against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, he scored his 267th goal for Tottenham to become the club’s all-time leading goal scorer. The great Jimmy Greaves held the record since the 1969/70 season.

Kane also made history for the England National Team. In a 2-1 win away from home against Italy, the forward became his country’s all-time leading scorer. Kane scored his 54th goal for England on the night, which surpassed the record that was held by Wayne Rooney.

The challenge for European Football will go to the final day though, and they know that if they avoid defeat and Aston Villa lose to Brighton, a top seven finish will be secured for Spurs to conclude the 2022/23 season.

Tottenham did make it to the Round of 16 of the Champions League where they lost 1-0 on aggregate against Italian giants AC Milan. The Lilywhites were also knocked out of the FA Cup at the 5th round stage against Sheffield United, who have since gained promotion back to the top flight.

Several changes in the dugout have also taken place during the 2022/23 season. The campaign began with Antonio Conte at the helm, but after being knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup, the Italian Head Coach was dismissed by Club Chairman Daniel Levy on 26th March 2023.

Cristian Stellini, Conte’s Assistant Manager, remained at the club and became the interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. However, in on 24th April 2023, Stellini left the club and Ryan Mason replaced him as Interim Head Coach.
